Paris remains one of the world’s most attractive capitals for retail, with nearly 58,700 shops recorded in 2023. But behind this exceptional density—an average of one shop every 42 meters—the Parisian retail landscape is undergoing profound transformations, both sectoral and geographical.
At the same time, demographic changes and the evolution toward more eco-friendly and healthier lifestyles among Parisians are impacting the retail sector. New criteria are emerging that should not be overlooked, particularly as municipal elections approach.
This is highlighted in Knight Frank’s new study, “Analysis No. 3 – Retail in Paris,” based on the examination of 80 administrative districts and more than 200 business sectors, using APUR and INSEE data, as well as advanced methodological work on 84 commercial streets across the capital.
